Use this checklist during a viewing so you don’t miss the important details.
Building & area
- Noise level (street, bars, construction).
- Building condition: stairs/elevator, security, entry system.
- Mobile reception and internet options.
- Parking/bike storage and safety at night.
- Heating in common areas / humidity / smell in hallways.
Apartment condition
- Check windows, water pressure, and hot water availability.
- Look for humidity/mold signs (corners, bathroom, behind furniture).
- Test appliances and note what stays.
- Check meters (water, electricity) if accessible.
- Ask about repairs: who pays what, and response time.
Fees & utilities
- Rent amount + admin fee (czynsz) breakdown.
- What’s billed separately (electricity, gas, internet, heating).
- Payment schedule and acceptable payment method.
- Deposit amount and return conditions (cleaning, damages).
- Any extra one-time fees (agency fee, cleaning, key deposit).
Documents & next steps
- Ask for a draft contract before paying anything.
- Verify owner/authorization to rent.
- Agree on handover protocol + meter readings.
- Clarify notice period and termination rules.
- Keep evidence in writing (messages, confirmations).
